Captain Requirements

  1. Dash League (DL) team captains are
    1. A team’s main contact for Board members, other team captains, live casters and competitors.
    2. Responsible for the team’s roster management on this website and DL Discord.
    3. Responsible for match negotiations with opponent team captains.
      1. Captains should open a DM conversation or start a thread in the #Match-Negotiation channel with all captains from both teams to do their negotiations.
        1. Captains need to respond to communications from their opponent captains within 24 hours. Not doing so may be seen as putting less effort into getting the match scheduled in a double forfeit scenario.
        2. Captains should keep their opponent captains unblocked on Discord when they are matched together in a cycle.
      2. Captains need to post their matches, once scheduled with their opponent, on the team up calendar 24 hours before match time (see Match Scheduling and Terms 5).
        1. If a match is not picked up by a caster, captains need to take screenshots of the scoreboard in the Podium Lobby as match data back ups (see Match Play 9).
    4. Responsible for knowing the league’s rules and ensuring their teammates know and follow the rules.
      1. Once a player(s) has shown a pattern of rule breaking behavior, the Board may issue the captain(s) of that team a notice via Discord DM to correct the behavior.
        1. The captain(s) will be expected to make adequate efforts to correct this behavior, and if those fail, the captain(s) will be expected to suspend the player(s) from match play until the behavior is corrected or remove the player(s) from the team.
          1. Failure to comply with the above will result in the Board
            1. Issuing their own suspension of the player(s) and possibly removing the player(s) from the team and blocking their future return to the team.
          2. If the captain(s) of a team cannot prove they made adequate efforts to correct the behavior of their player(s) or are found to encourage the behavior, the board may
            1. Suspend the captain(s) of the team and possibly dissolve the entire team and block its reformation, depending on the severity of the behavior.
      2. If one or both captains of a team show a pattern of rule breaking behavior, the Board may issue these captain a notice via Discord DM to correct the behavior.
        1. Failure to correct the behavior will result in the Board
          1. Suspending the captain(s) and possibly removing the captain(s) from the team and blocking them from returning to the team in the future.
          2. Possibly dissolving the team and blocking its reformation, depending on the severity of the behavior.
  2. A person will be disqualified, unless otherwise allowed by the Board, from being a captain if
    1. They have received a DL Discord ban.
    2. They have created more than one (1) team that ended up folding mid-season.
    3. They have had previous season suspensions from league play.
    4. They are under 16 years of age (players under 16 at the time of this rule’s writing will be grandfathered in).
